=== Getting started with Git ===

The git repositories go in the <tt>/git</tt> directory on this server. The server and the repositories are backed up every night.

The <tt>git</tt> directory contains three subdirectories: <tt>paper</tt>, <tt>code</tt>, and <tt>user</tt>.

The <tt>paper</tt> and <tt>code</tt> folders are intended for the collaborative work on papers, codes, etc.

In the <tt>user</tt> directory each user has his or her own directory and can create repositories, etc.

For an introduction to Git and its funtionality, see the [http://progit.org/ ProGit Book] available for download or view the [http://merc1/wiki/index.php/Git_usage help] in this Wiki.

=== Code Developement and Numerics ===

In this group several different frameworks are developed. To run code, members of the group can either use the workstation or the [http://merc1/wiki/index.php/Compute_Cluster cluster].

A subgroup exists, developing and using a Discontinuous Galerkin framework (DG). The DG framework called ''Spreewaldgurke'' is developed using [http://merc1/wiki/index.php/DG_Software_Developement Software Developement].

One program that feeds into the Spreewaldgurke is netgen that is installed on our workstations. If you need a working local copy of this program please check for details [[Install Netgen|here]].
